Thomas Guppy, Master on the Scylla

“I have worked at Seajacks for the past 4 years as a Master onboard the Leviathan, Seajacks’ second vessel but I am now the Master of Seajacks Scylla.

My path to Seajacks was through the Merchant Navy. I passed my 2nd Mate’s Exam; completed my Mate’s Exam and, finally, sat my Master’s Exam. While I studied for my assessments, I worked onboard various vessels including: Semi submersible DP Rigs, Oil field construction, Ferries, tankers and general cargo. Working in the Merchant Navy has taken me everywhere; during my career I have worked in South America, Southeast Asia, and all over Europe.

As a Seajacks Master, I am tasked with ensuring the safety of the Vessel and everyone onboard, safe navigation, and the highest level of efficiency in a risk-free environment. What attracted me to Seajacks was the versatility of the company and its potential for growth. Working here allows each team member to assume various roles; life onboard certainly keeps you on your toes.”
